What do you teach? Science! but I did teach ELA for a long time.

What is your favorite subject to learn about? I love to elarn about space astronomy, the universe, geology, weather, chemistry, physics, earth science and ROCKS!!! Basically anything science- although I have been known to love history as well!

Where did you go to school? Cortland University for my undergrad and Minnesota for my doctorate.

What is your favorite hobby? Reading, painting/drawing, and stargazing.

What is one new thing you want to do this year? Section hike parts of the appalachian trail.

What's the coolest travel experience you've ever had? Probably my trip to Hawaii. I got to climb to the top of a real active volcano, Mauna Kea, in Hawaii where they have the largest astronomical observatory complex in the world. It's also the largest mountain in the world, even higher then Everest, when you measure it from its base which is under the over floor all the way to the peak. I also got to climb to the top of Haleakala (another volcano) to witess the clarity of the Milky Way Galaxy. Being at such a high elevation removes light polloution and provides a clearer atmosphere for star gazing. The best part of being on top of the mountain was that the Milky Way colors and starlight were as clear and visible as in most images you see in magazines!

I also went parasailing at the same height as some of the lvoer volcanos and I got to visit the Alpha Centauri Obelisk, a statue at the 'Imiloa Astronomy Center in Hilo Hawaii. It represents the Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to our sun, and is part of the Sagan Planet Walk which is in Ithaca, NY. I had always dreamed of visiting the most distant piece to the planetary walk, and finally I was able to see that in person. Because the Sagan Planetary Walk in a 1:5 billion scale model of our solor system, it gives you some perspective of how distant our next closest star system is to our own (ventral NY being our solar system and Hilo, HI being the location of Alpha Centauri).

What do you teach? I've been a librarian for 12 years and I'm also certified as a secondary Social Studies teacher.

What is your favorite subject to learn about? I'm a bit all over the map and love learning about a lot of things, but I would probably have to say that I love learning about US History, especially when it's weird or unique bits of history that maybe haven't gotten as much attention.

Where did you go to school? I have to admit I'm a bit of a career student and have been to a lot of schools. I have a Bacheor degree in History from the University of Tampa, a Master degree in Library & Information Science: School Media from Syracuse University, and then 2 Certificates of Advanced Study, one in Cultural Heritage Preservation from Syracuse University and another in Native American Studies from Montana State University.

What is your favorite hobby? READING! I'm a bit of a book hoarder and love to collect antique books. I also really love to travel and take pictures of all the amazing places I've been lucky enough to visit.

What is one new thing you want to do this year? I'd like to travel someplace I've never been before. I've got my eye on a few places, but we'll see where I end up wandering to!

What's the coolest travel experience you've ever had? Oh boy... I've been lucky to have been on some amazing adventure. Check out the video below to hear about one of them.
